TEXAS RETREAT STYLE GETAWAY

The Queen of Shabby Chic has a quaint and elegant bed and breakfast tucked away in Round Top - so tucked away and hidden you'd miss it completely if you had not known about it. Even the driveway into the property is long enough - so long that the big house at the end of it almost looks like a dot from the road - completely easy to miss. After you pass it twice you realize that there was a sign in the front of the property easily directing and leading you in the right direction. The back roads of Texas become the perfect place to become easily entranced in your own personal concert inside of your car, and having missed the Prairie sign twice, you don't mind at all with the relaxation of Round Top.

Once you get to the property - whether shopping the Shabby Chic store (which is one of five Shabby Chic Couture stores in the world including London, Santa Monica, San Francisco, Soho NYC, and Notting Hill in London). Texas is so incredibly lucky to have such a unique gem tucked away in such a chic way. Then you think to yourself, "Why Texas?" and you visit the property and think "Why not?"

In 2011 The Prairie, Ashwell's unique bed & breakfast was opened - neighboring the Shabby Chic Couture store. It is beautiful. There is also a unique white barn on the property which is ideal for a dinner or wedding reception. The barn combines blended textiles - such as a tin roof ceiling with elegant chandeliers draping down creating a rustic elegance -- and of course a shabby chic feel.

I styled a wedding shoot on property in the barn for a wedding feature - which I featured pulls from Watters and BHLDN (before the two collaborated) and teamed up with creative forces Two Be Wed and Christa Elyce Photography. After visiting the property I fell in love.

You come away from the bed & breakfast feeling relaxed and inspired. Then you go home with your own home decor feeling inadequate - wanting to completely redo your decor to fit the light and airy scape that The Prairie made you feel.

The Prairie is an ideal place to rest your head for Antiques Week coming up beginning of April.
The White House On The Hill & The Vintage are ideal spots to visit and stay as well if you are having trouble with booking. Junk Gypsy will also be hosting their annual prom which I highly recommend after a day of scouting out vintage finds & antiques.
