Pretty In Pink

♪ ♫♪ ♫Think pink! think pink! when you shop for summer clothes.
Think pink! think pink! if you want that quelque chose.
Red is dead, blue is through,
Green's obscene, brown's taboo.
And there is not the slightest excuse for plum or puce or chartreuse.
Think pink! forget that Dior says black and rust.
Think pink! who cares if the new look has no bust.
Now, I wouldn't presume to tell a woman
what a woman oughtta think,
But tell her if she's gotta think: think pink!♪ ♫♪ ♫
-Funny Face

My love for anything Audrey Hepburn is indefinite. So with a pink skirt as the main focus of the feature, it was only natural to open with the Think Pink lyrics from Funny Face. I was in love with this Audrey Hepburn shirt the moment I saw it. "Paris is always a good idea!" was a quote from the movie Sabrina in 1954 when Audrey starred alongside Humphrey Bogart and William Holden.

This skirt is absolutely dreamy; I paired it with a tee to make the skirt a little more effortless and approachable and with an embellished belt to complete the flow and transition of the contrasting materials of fabric. I loved pairing this with an embellished clutch.

Women always ask me "Where would I wear this?" when I add a skirt like this into their wardrobe (if I'm ever helping someone compose an outfit). The answer always is - you can wear whatever you want, at anytime you want. I wanted to wear this skirt with a t-shirt on a simple day out with a friend for lunch, and I did. This is what I wore to lunch, and I loved it. It's really quite simple - you can achieve wearing a skirt like this on the weekends, as a wedding guest, and simply because you WANT to wear it. It really is that simple. I wanted to wear this, so I wore it - and I loved it.

Working Class Hero

Photo Credits Ashley McGinty, Griot Photo for All Ze Details

I am a firm believer that if you dress for the office in a way that works both professionally and caters to your style, that you will succeed through the day. Things that make me happy, like layering on accessories, ultimately improves my attitude while working - as opposed to wearing something stuffy and boring. I like combining patterns while remaining sophisticated. This outfit, without the clutch and layered with a black blazer can be worn to the office with a nice pair of lace up booties for the fall. The clutch, added on, is perfect for drinks or dinner after work.

Some may think that the necklace may be a bit too crazy for work but you will see that based on the colour tones of the skirt and necklace, they perfect compliment each other -- when you add in black tones by selecting a perfectly structured blazer, and closed toed booties for the office, or peep toe pumps with pantyhose that this outfit becomes sophisticated and office friendly. The necklace adds a sense of style in all of the seriousness of expected professionalism.

The shoes I paired with this were for a summer casual look, and have studs, wooden heels, and edgy straps - which is not something I'd wear to a business meeting or to work. This just shows the variety of style that can come out of this skirt, by simply changing the shoes from season-to-season.
