All Ze Details: WILD HORSES

Wild Horses is a label based out of Fremantle - a suburb of the hip city, Perth. The label is fun and fierce with prints that are perfect for spring and summer to throw on for the beach, or weekend retreat. Meet Natalie Donovan, the designer of Wild Horses label; How she gets in the zone before she designs, her favorite hot spots of Perth, and where she sees the label going in the next 5 years.

What’s on your current playlist? What music gets you in the zone? I love listening to Triple J on the radio here in Perth, and anything with a good beat! Most of the time when I am sewing, I love tuning into harmonious positive songs that make me feel good. I love listening to anything from Beatles to Radiohead.

What is the inspiration behind your new range?

Summery brights, and fresh hues are expressed in the print that make you feel like you are in the sunshine all day long! The print was actually derived from aerial views of landscapes which my graphic designer then transformed this inspiration into our own signature print. Using the colors and shapes from the landscape scenery.

What celeb would you love to see your line worn on? Kate Moss or Kate Bosworth

What is your favorite place to travel, that also inspires you?

Favorite place to travel so far is Vancouver! So clean and healthy and everyone is super kind and friendly! Beautiful scenery and mountains that you can climb and take in the fresh air!! I love the fact they are very conscience about their well being and they are very pro active in their every day lives! It's very inspirational.

Favorite places to recommend for tourists to visit while in Perth? Tourists should check out Bread in Common for good food, South Beach for a swim, and Little Creatures for a beer.

What is your favorite thing about being in Perth? Everyone is supportive and super happy, and kind! It is easy to make friends. Amazing weather and culture are great attributes to our city.

What served as inspiration for you to become a designer? I love to decorate and be creative in anyway possible. I love creating things with my hands and I am a BIG daydreamer! I always wanted to create something for someone to make them feel good about themselves.

Where will White Horses be in 5 years, do you suppose? Hopefully we will have our own flagship store, and existing stores in a few Australian states and to show in Paris for their FW.

What celeb would you love to see your line on? Kate moss or Kate Bosworth

Where could you see your newest collection being worn?

I definitely think our AW15 range is very Parisian. Simple, chic, and black with structural lines, silhouettes and fairly basic to incorporate into your own wardrobe. The collection is luscious and high end. I could see the collection being worn in NYC or Milan. The woman that I see wearing this collection is strong, fierce, and chic. Someone who is confident and they knows what they want. As for my SS15 (Summer Spring 2015) range I can definitely see that collection being worn in Los Angeles, or resort wear by the sea, somewhere like the south of France. It’s very bright, colorful, and super easy to slip on!

You are a mother now, how do you juggle being a designer and mother? It's very hard finding a harmonious balance between the kids family work and friends. I try to work later at night, while the kids are asleep, or I filter work into my daily routine and take breaks to take the kids to the to the playground – they have to burn some of their energy, as they are both boys!
